Course Syllabus

  • THE KEYBOARD, KEYBOARDING, THE MOUSE, AND ERGONOMICS OF COMPUTING

    To use the computer systematically, it is important to handle the keyboard and mouse correctly. Additionally, having a proper posture is necessary for long-term health.

  • ၂။ အချက်အလက်ထည့်သွင်းသည့် ကိရိယာများ (Input Devices)

    The most commonly used input device is the keyboard, which allows data to be entered by pressing keys. A keyboard usually consists of 101 or 105 keys.

  • ၃။ QWERTY ကီးဘုတ်

    On most keyboards, keys are organized into 5 groups: 1. Alphanumeric keys 2. Numeric keypad 3. Function keys (F1 to F12) 4. Modifier keys 5. Cursor-movement keys

  • ၄။ စာသားများထည့်ရန် Insertion Point ကို အသုံးပြုခြင်း

    The Insertion Point is the blinking vertical line on the document. It indicates where the text will be typed on the page. It can be used in various ways.

  • ၅။ စာရွက်အလွတ်

    When you open a new blank document, the Insertion Point will appear at the top-left corner of the page. You can start typing from there. Due to the “Wordwrap” feature, the text will automatically move to the next line as you type.

  • USING THE KEYBOARD: Number and Letter keys

    You need to use the corresponding keys to type numbers and English letters on the keyboard.

  • ၇။ Backspace ခလုတ်

    The Backspace key moves the cursor to the left and deletes the characters on that side.

  • ၈။ Delete ခလုတ်

    The Delete key removes the characters to its right and can also be used to delete folders, pictures, and other items.

  • ၉။ လားရာပြခလုတ်များ (Arrow Keys)

    The Arrow keys can move the cursor anywhere on the document without deleting any characters while moving.

  • ၁၀။ Caps Lock ခလုတ်

    Pressing the Caps Lock key changes all letters to uppercase English letters. Pressing it again will revert them to lowercase letters.

  • ၁၁။ Shift ခလုတ်

    If you hold down one of the two Shift keys, you can type English letters in uppercase.

  • ၁၂။ Windows ခလုတ်

    Pressing the Windows key will bring up the Start Menu. It can also be found at the bottom-left of the Windows 10 screen.

  • ၁၃။ Enter ခလုတ်

    The Enter key is used to move to the next line while typing. When searching for something or an email address on the internet, it works like a “GO” button.

  • ၁၄။ ပြောင်းလဲအသုံးပြုနိုင်သော ခလုတ်များ (Modifier keys)

    The SHIFT, ALT, and CTRL keys are called modifier keys because they can change the function of other keys.

  • ၁၅။ Modifier Keys ဥပမာ

    For example, pressing the “c” key will type the lowercase letter “c”. However, pressing the “c” key along with “CTRL” will copy the selected item. Also, pressing “c” along with “SHIFT” will type the uppercase letter “C”.

  • ၁၆။ Alternate ခလုတ် (ALT Key)

    Also known as the ALT key, it is located on either side of the Space Bar. It works in combination with other keys to execute commands.

  • ၁၇။ Home ခလုတ်

    The Home key moves the cursor to the beginning of a line. Pressing Control (Ctrl) and Home together will take you to the very top of the document.

  • ၁၈။ End, Page Up နှင့် Page Down ခလုတ်များ

    The End key is similar but moves the cursor to the end. You can also move up and down using the Page Up and Page Down keys.

    To type properly, your fingers must initially rest on the Home Row. The “F” and “J” keys on the home row have small bumps or lines that help you know where to place your index fingers.

    Do not rest your wrists on the keyboard. Learning to type quickly without looking at the keys requires learning, patience, and practice.

    The mouse helps you manipulate information by moving the arrow-shaped cursor on the screen.

    Most mouse users are right-handed. About 10 percent are left-handed. The computer system can be configured for left-handed people so that the mouse can be placed and used on the left side of the keyboard.

    There are 5 techniques for using a mouse: 1. Pointing 2. Clicking 3. Double-clicking 4. Dragging 5. Right-clicking

    2 easy ways to remember whether to single-click or double-click: - “Try single-clicking; if nothing happens, double-click” - Double-click on icons; single-click on links.

    - Pointing: Move the pointer on the screen by moving the mouse. - Clicking: Press and release the left mouse button once. - Double-clicking: Press the left mouse button twice in rapid succession. - Dragging: Press and hold the left mouse button while moving the pointer. - Right-clicking: Press and release the right mouse button once.

  • KEYBOARD FINGERING GUIDE

    Left Hand: 1. Pinky: 1, Q, A, Z keys 2. Ring Finger: 2, W, S, X keys 3. Middle Finger: 3, E, D, C keys 4. Index Finger: 4, 5, R, T, F, G, V, B keys 5. Thumb: Space Bar (if needed) Right Hand: 1. Index Finger: 6, 7, Y, U, H, J, N, M keys 2. Middle Finger: 8, I, K, , (comma) keys 3. Ring Finger: 9, O, L, . (period) keys 4. Pinky: 0, P, ;, /, - , = , [, ] , Enter , Shift keys 5. Thumb: Space Bar (primary use)
